Course Description
Students will gain a strong foundation in Unity’s interface, core game objects, and scripting, and complete a basic click-to-play or side-scroller mini-game they can proudly share or showcase.
What You’ll Learn?
Day 1: What is Game Development + Unity Introduction
- Game development pipeline overview: Concept → Code → Build
- Types of games (2D vs 3D, casual, arcade, platformer, etc.)
- Installing Unity Hub & Unity Editor
- Creating your first Unity 2D project
- Understanding Unity Interface:
- Hierarchy, Inspector, Scene View, Game View, Console
Day 2: Unity Essentials – GameObjects & Components
- Creating and manipulating GameObjects (Player, Ground, Obstacles)
- Using Sprite Renderer, BoxCollider2D, and Rigidbody2D
- Introduction to Prefabs (reusable templates)
- Setting up a background and basic scene
Day 3: C# Scripting Basics
- Creating your first script in Unity
- Unity event methods: Start(), Update()
- Declaring variables, basic logic (if/else, input handling)
- Making the player move using the keyboard (Input.GetKey
- Displaying values in Console
Day 4: Player Interaction – Jumping & Collision
- Adding jump mechanics and gravity
- Working with OnCollisionEnter2D()
- Handling basic player-ground collisions
- Adding sound or visual feedback on collision
- Player boundaries and respawn logic
Day 5: UI + Scoring System
- Setting up Canvas and Text UI
- Using TextMeshPro for beautiful UI
- Adding buttons: Start, Restart
- Basic scoring system with collectibles (coins or stars)
- Display score on screen in real-time
Day 6: Game Completion + Polish
- Win/Lose condition (e.g., timer runs out, score target reached)
- Background music and SFX integration
- Polishing visuals: simple particle system for pickups
- Cleaning the scene and organizing assets
Day 7: Export + Showcase
- Building and exporting the game (Windows/Android
- Testing on a PC or mobile device
- Peer feedback, Q&A session
- Final game demo and certificate distribution
Final Mini-Project: “Jump & Collect”
A simple game where the player moves and jumps across platforms, collects items for points, avoids falling, and wins by reaching the target score.
